Fault Characteristics Analysis of DC Distribution System With Circuit Breaker Operating Asynchronously
With the rapid growth of various renewable energy integration and the increase of consumers' demands on power quality, special attentions are paid to the development of DC distribution network both on theory research and practical applications. Among the key equipment in DC distribution network, DC circuit breaker shows its significant role for DC distribution system's safe and flexible operation. DC circuit breakers in distribution system are deployed among power lines with a distance, so the asynchronous switching might occur in the circuit breakers at the initating and ending terminal of line and the positive and negative pole. Therefor, this paper designs a DC distribution network with three terminals, in which the DC fault ride-through of converter station is realized via the coordination of converters and DC circuit breakers. The impact of DC circuit breakers caused by operation time difference and cable length is analyzed. With the increase of operation time difference, the release energy of first action DC circuit breaker will increase, and the latter will reduce. With the increase of cable length, the release energy of DC circuit breaker will increase slightly.
