The increasing number of microgrids connected to medium and low voltage distribution system makes it is possible to improve economy and reliability of the overall multi-microgrid through interconnection. This paper presents a kind of configuration of interconnected multi-microgrid based on common energy storage. Two microgrids are provided with energy support by common energy storage through two bi-directional inventers connected to common DC bus, which can interconnect two microgrids with different voltage and frequency under different feeders. In the optimized operation state, it can achieve two way energy support between interconnected microgrids, and improve the consumption level of regional distributed energy resources; under fault conditions, it can sustain power supply for important loads through adaptive networking. Based on this design concept, a regional multi-microgrid project of Tianjin Eco-city has been built, which is consist of a medium and low voltage nested microgrid and two low voltage microgrids. On this basis, this paper also discusses the commercial operation mode of regional multi-microgrid based on common energy storage, which is to achieve the win-win situation of electric power corporations and photovoltaic investors through optimizing the allocation of resources.
